Descriptif du camp
The Pararé site is located along the Arataie river, just
downstream from a rapid ('saut') that is difficult to pass by
boat. There used to be a boarding post at the time when rosewood
was exploited in the area, and this post was abandoned over 80
years ago.

This location is accessible by boat directly from the village
of Régina. It was therefore chosen to set up the second
site of the Nouragues Station.
The first carbets of the Pararé camp were constructed
in 1995, and a scientific site constructed to host the COPAS project
some 400 m away from the base camp. The camp has two main carbets
and a sanitary carbet. The camp is being extended with the ongoing
construction of more living spaces.
Currently the camp can host up to 12 people.
Access
Access to the site is restricted to scientific personel, and
is managed by CNRS-Guyane. Transportation to the site is possible
in boat or in helicopter (see Tips
> transportation)
Facilities
The site generates its own electricity through solar panels.
Kitchen, and showers have potable water. The site is equipped
with fridges to store food, and insure a french-level cuisine
standard (!)
Communication are made by satellite (phone) and radio to the
Inselberg site.
